At Knollmead Primary we understand that art, craft and design is sensory, visual and tactile experience where children use their imagination to create, explore and learn. We want children to be free to use art and design as tool to express themself and create with no limits.
We therefore strive to teach skill, knowledge and expose our pupils to high quality art, galleries and museums.
Our aim is to engage, inspire and challenge our pupils to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. We want our children to not only find pleasure and enjoyment from art but also use it as a tool to nurture and support positive mental health.
To progress in this subject we want our children to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of how art and design has shaped our history and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation. Through our teaching we hope to inspire the next generation of illustrators, graphic designers, fashion designers, curators, architects or printmakers.
